2014 August-September Training on PRIMET_Registration_Ethiopia software
In Wageningen, The Netherlands a 3-d training (Fri 29 August-2 September 2014) took place in which the newly developed software tool PRIMET_Registration_Ethiopia was tested by the eight participants of the Plant Health Regulatory Department (PHRD) of the Ethiopian Ministry of Agriculture. The PRIMET software was designed by representatives of Alterra, the Dutch Board for the Authorization of Pesticides (Ctgb) and the software consultancy Envista in consultation with the PHRD. The PRIMET software (and 3 related external models, also included in the software zip) enables the PHRD to perform risk assessments for Human health and the Environment in a user-friendly, reproducible and robust way. These risk assessments will be used in the pesticide registration procedure of Ethiopia. The training was geared towards the technical aspects of the software, as the content of the proposed evaluation method had already been discussed and tested in two former workshops (December 2012 and May 2013). In addition, the work package of ‘Dossier evaluation’ was evaluated and follow-up needs were discussed. Main issues needing follow-up were continuing support on the PRIMET implementation in risk assessments by PHRD, including guidance on how to translate the required data from the SEARCH-based forms into input for PRIMET, and software support (help desk, bug fixing).
